A Message from Pastor Parker

“They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.” Psalm 145

View for Meditation

The busiest three months of the year are here! People are back into full work and school mode; fall activities abound in all dimensions of society in the 4th quarter of the calendar year. Secular and religious holidays also dominate our calendars, with Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur just concluded, Columbus Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Kwanzaa, Advent, Christmas and New Years Eve are all tightly woven into the 62 days of October, November and December.

It is truly a wonder to me that so much preparation and then celebration happens amid our everyday daily lives during this season! And it does happen!

In in the case of this church, on top of all the above, we shall include another gigantic Pumpkin Patch on the front lawn in October and help sell gifts of the Christmas Season in early December. We will also offer an Advent Bible Study and continue to pray and share our thoughts about our future ministries as part of Looking Ahead supper meetings, the next of which is October 19; important and timely work for God’s children.

At this juncture, I suggest that it is particularly important to remember how and why we can do all of these things: because God provides. God provides all that we have; God enables us and expects us to provide all that can for others, especially those in real need. The prophet Isaiah reminds us of the Lord’s message to us: “I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”Isaiah 43: 20-21

Let’s remember and recognize in prayer and worship, that God indeed provides for us what we need in this life. Let’s remember to thank God for his gifts by serving him and serving his children in need, by serving his church and it’s outreach programs. Our mission is to serve and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others in order to promote peace and love in a troubled world. By the grace of God this happens when we serve and follow the commandments of Jesus in all we do.

Let’s keep our faith and discipleship up front and foremost as we move together through this busiest of seasons. Blessings to all.

In His name,

Pastor Parker
